Road tax
Dear Business partner,
We would like to inform you about the new state-imposed road toll that will be implemented on January 1, 2025.
The toll will apply to all trucks with a technically permissible total weight of 12 tons or more.
This applies to both Danish and foreign vehicles, and the purpose is to promote a greener and more efficient transport sector in Denmark.
Coverage and implementation of the toll
Initially, the toll will cover most of the state road network as well as selected municipal road sections, corresponding to approximately 10,900 km.
From January 1, 2028, the entire public road network in Denmark will be covered, which means an expansion to approximately 75,000 km.
Extension of the toll as of January 1, 2027
The government plans that the toll will also include trucks weighing 3.5 tons or more from January 1, 2027.
This will mean that more vehicles, including smaller trucks, will be covered by the scheme.
How is the toll calculated?
The toll will be calculated either as a percentage of the net freight, or after expenses according to the form & execution of the task.
From January 1, 2025, a “Road Use Surcharge” will be added to the freight.
